President & CEO
Martin Hannes is the Chairman and CEO of Next Generation Broadband. He set up NGB with his partners in early 2001, following his role as President of Road Runner International (one of the two major high-speed data companies in North America at the time) which was then acquired by Time Warner/AOL.
Although very much an entrepreneur, Mr. Hannes has also held a number of senior executive positions in the internet and telecoms area over the last 15 years, including Senior Vice President at Continental Cablevision and later in a similar role with US West. Prior to this, he was CEO of publically listed, Palco Corporation, and was a co-founder of Stereo FM Radio, which in a short period of time became the largest broadcast network in Australia. He also started the Odyssey Programming Network, where he served as Chairman for a number of years before its sale to Comcast in 2003.
Mr. Hannes has or currently serves on the boards of a number of major companies including CT Telecom (Japan), OptusVision (Australia) and Singapore Cablevision. Mr. Hannes has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Sydney.
