NGB (NGB) Selected by Cox Communications for Automated Activation of High Speed Internet Service Cox Customers Will Be Able to Self Activate Service in Minutes Without Contacting Operator by Fall 2006 Washington, D.C., March 28, 2006 – Cox Communications has chosen NGB’s Auto Install III™ automated subscriber activation system to enable its high speed data subscribers to auto install cable modems and activate their broadband service without any operator intervention. Through the use of Auto Install III™ automated subscriber activation system, Cox High Speed Internet customers will be able to purchase a cable modem in a store or online, go home, plug it in, open an Internet browser and be guided through service activation in less than ten minutes. In most cases, the customer will not have to call the operator, wait for a package in the mail or have a technician come to their home. Service activation is instantaneous and completely at the convenience of the customer. The system makes activating broadband service as simple as dial-up activation. “At Cox we always strive to provide greater convenience to our customers and to optimize our installation processes to minimize the time and effort between choosing Cox and enjoying our services,” said Keith Lindsay, director of Internet support applications. “We chose the NGB Auto Install III system to make yet another leap in service quality and to realize cost savings associated with unaided customer self-installs.” The NGB Auto Install III system is network-based and needs no client software. No cable modem pre-provisioning is required and no customized middleware installation is necessary. NGB’s Auto Install III patent pending technology is unique because it works with the operator’s existing and future systems, including an operator’s current middleware and billing systems. Once a customer has purchased a cable modem and connected it, the Auto Install III system automatically recognizes the new device on the network. The customer is then led to a service activation screen for entry of the contact and billing information, choice of service type and email set-up. The customer is then immediately on-line and can begin surfing the Internet. The process is simple and takes only a few minutes. No computer re-booting is necessary. Behind the scenes, Auto Install III verifies the billing information, sets up the user ID, password and ema il, configures the modem and activates service. Once service activation is complete, Auto Install III then hands control of the customer back to the operator’s existing systems. The Auto Install III system can handle more than 10,000 activations per day. A fully automated service activation system has been the goal of operators for ma ny years; most operators settled on self install kits that still required manual steps to complete activation. By fully automating service activation, operators can do more service activations, faster, with fewer errors and at a considerably lower cost. In addition, with Auto Install, operators can perform automated cross selling and upselling, as well as provide localized messaging and service packages. “The easier and simpler it is for subscribers to activate and manage their IP based services, the more services they will purchase," said Tiffany Norwood, Executive Vice President of NGB. “Our software systems allow automated management of all IP devices on the network by the operator. This has tremendous implications for operators not just for service activation, but also for providing new services, managing existing customers, as well as self administration of services by customers--all while preserving margin. The competitive advantages are staggering. We are particularly pleased to partner with Cox on this deployment.” About NGB NGB is a Washington, D.C. based software company which was founded in 2001. The company has developed patent pending device control software that operates on a centralized network basis, and allows network operators to manage individual IP devices and users on an automated basis. Because NGB’s technology is centralized and network based, it eliminates the need for CDs, client software or expensive additional network hardware which would otherwise be required to control the IP device (modem, PC, router, etc) on the network. Also unique is that NGB systems work as an adjunct platform in parallel with an operator’s existing (or future) systems with the benefit of not requiring complex and risky changes to the existing systems during implementation. The technology has already been deployed in large scale systems internationally and can support millions of users, emphasizing its scalability. NGB’s other products include: Pay As You Go Broadband – a system that allows pay as you go high speed internet (with built-in session management), SafeHouse-access control and quarantine system; Bandwidth on Demand-real-time individual user bandwidth control and management; VoIP Install-automated VoIP service activation; as well as other market driven applications.
